Jumping on Twitter bandwagon

I started noticing links from Twitter to my blog posts and website and it sparked my greater interest in this social networking phenomenon. I have to admit, I don’t get it yet what makes this short text messaging service so popular. So, here is my first New Year resolution for 2010 – discovering what Twitter is all about and how to explore it in my online endeavours.

I resisted temptation of joining “yet another” social network site for quite a while but now that major search engines (Google and Bing) announced that they will provide real-time search of tweets I decided to dip a toe in this new potential pool of online traffic. And since Twitter offers ability to post messages via API, I created a simple weather information service for Australian capital cities which is updated every hour. It has been running only a few days but I already have 12 followers. How exciting! I will gradually add more content so, if you would like to keep track of what is happening on this blog and my aus-emaps.com online mapping site, I invite you to follow me on Twitter!
